kilcoole

Met at kilcoole at 10am, it was pouring rain and windy, but still we strode down the beach towards the Breeches.
The sky and the sea were busily changing shades of dark grey and it was actually great to be out in such weather, especially with the sea heaving and crashing down on the shore. I miss my 18-200 lens for capturing these views, the 150-500 lens isn't made for landscape photography.
Sugarloaf Mountain, Co. Wicklow
Very dark Brent Geese flyby, Kilcoole, 11am.
Whooper Swans and Greylag Geese, Kilcoole
After an hour or so in the rain, one of the women decided to call it a day announcing that she lived nearby and if anyone else who wanted to join her, she was offering coffee and some freshly baked scones with jam. With that announcement, our group of 15 became 5.
Very tempting though the offer was, me, Susan, Richard and two other guys continued on down the Breeches.

Oystercatchers and Bartailed Godwit
We saw Dunlin, Turnstones, Oystercatchers, Teal, Wigeon, a Kestrel hovering, Bar tailed Godwit and Susan saw some pipit or bunting lift up from the grass but we didn't see what bird it was.

After another hour, we headed back to the carpark and I drove home where the weather in Drimnagh was tropical.
