A walk in Stump of the Castle woods gave views and near constant calls of Jays and Ravens and heart attacks x2 when we thought, hours later, we had gotten lost just as the sun was going down.
To those who know the woods, the idea of getting lost in there, I'm sure, is mystifying, but if you don't know the woods - those blue and green arrows are very confusing!
Take a GPS or map and compass if you plan to go off route, or else pack one of those anti-hypothermia foil blankets and a whistle so mountain rescue can find you. Luckily, we found our way back to the road so there was no need for tears or relationship counselling.
